Dear American History Students:
The upcoming week is our spring break week, so there will be no new work for you to tackle this week. However, pay attention to this site. Starting the week of April 13, we will be back to regular learning under these most irregular times.
Stay safe!
Ms. Ryntz

Dear American History Students:
I hope that Governor Whitmer and the Michigan legislature will finally have some answers for us this week as to what the rest of the school year may look like. In the interim, continue working on your outlines for Chapter 14----because you are long done with Chapter 13, right? Remember to look back here for more information as to what you can be doing this mandatory time away from our classroom.
Stay safe!

Dear American History Students:
Based on Governor Whitmer's announcement today, those of you who have already completed outlining Chapter 13 can move on to Chapter 14. Remember that these outlines will be extra credit assignments. Follow the directions in my March 18, 2020, post below.
Follow the directions from the healthcare professionals as to how you can safe during this time that we are all working to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Keeping a sense of normalcy will help you during this time that we are forced to stay home. Wake up. Get ready for the day. And keep your mind busy learning. And, of course, help your parents and your neighbors.
Stay safe.

Dear American History Students:
I have received several questions regarding lesson plans and outlines. First, for a variety of reasons, I have been asked by the district to not require that any student complete work online. That is why I have created an extra-credit assignment. Second, I have included a document below, "Outline Format Rules." Download it. Make sure that your outline conforms to the rules. None of these rules should be a surprise to you, as they are what you should have been doing since September.
Finally, please keep yourself engaged in learning. However, you should also be helping out around the house and in your neighborhood. Complete chores to help your parents. Ask your elderly neighbor if there is a task you can do for him or her. Get some exercise. Staying physically active (or becoming physically active) will help you out in many ways.
And if you are getting bored, frustrated, or stressed, remember that not every small task will accomplish a bigger goal, but every big goal starts with a small step. Take a small step.
Hey, I miss you, 2nd Hour, Fourth Hour, and Sixth Hour.
Stay safe,
Ms. Ryntz

Sunday, March 15, 2020
Dear American History Students:
I hoped you looked here for updated lesson plans on Sunday. This is a strange time. Throughout this state-mandated school closing, I encourage you to check back for suggestions to keep yourself engaged in learning while you are away from school. To that end, I am offering you an opportunity to earn extra credit upon our return to school. Had we been in school on March 16, we would be starting Chapter 13, "Postwar Confidence and Anxiety." This chapter is four sections long. You may earn extra credit by outlining these four sections. Your outlines need to be completed as normally required for a classroom assignment. That is, they must use proper outlining format, be written in complete sentences, and all bold terms must be highlighted. These outlines will be due on the day we return to school.
I have not decided as to whether these extra credit points will be permitted for use on homework, assessments, or both. I have also not decided upon the number of extra credit points that will be given. I do know that the number of extra credit points given will be based on following the directions above and on the quality of your outlines.
Stay engaged during this time away from the classroom. It will make your transition to school go more smoothly when that does happen. Check back here for more extra credit opportunities in the future and for additional suggestion on how you can continue to learn. If you need to communicate with me, please do so using my school email.
Stay safe.
